The CSX bridge is a through truss lift bridge over Mobile River located in Baldwin County, Alabama. The project involved replacement of an existing swing bridge with a 325-ft span for a new vertical lift bridge and also improving the navigational clearance to 65 ft when fully lifted. Construction staging and minimization of impacts to rail traffic was the prime consideration for the concept development of the replacement design. Sena Kumarasena, Ph.D., PE served as the Bridge Task Manager and Technical Lead for the project.
